2014 Project Life {Birthday spread}

I did a 2 page spread to highlight my birthday fun because my birthday is always a big thing around here. Its one of the days/weekends that actually is all about me; not about taking care of the kids or the chores or anything else other than just finding some happiness!

This spread was inspired by one red card that said "All about me." This card was part of the April Studio Calico add-on kit "Tobasco," which I had to have because of this card and some of the cute embellys! Since I could not figure out how I wanted to place the card, I decided to punch a 2" circle around the words and to layer it over an image. I then used the scraps from the punched card to keep the exact color red throughout the layout, contrasting it with blues (I have a lot of blue cards, since its my favorite color!)

I used the red scraps to make small flags and 1" circles. I stamped in black Stayz-on ink with some fun stamps from the new Simple Stories DIY stamp sets.

I also used some cute puffy asterisks, an Amanda Rose "hubbie" stamp, a Red "EEK" flair button from the April SC PL kit (which was perfect since it was both red and pretty much explained the emotion everyone at the table felt when I started playing with the crab legs, HAHA!), and red and blue alphas from Simple Stories and Thickers. All the cards I used were from my stash :)

2014 Project Life {WEEK 14} + Zulily

Week 14 was all about the girls. I used more of my Take Ten Kit and a fun technique tuesday geotag stamp, as well as some perler bead enamel dots. This week my daughter cut her own hair so I made a point of including it as one of the "OMG" moments of the week. The highlight of the week was the girls photoshoot with Zulily. It was so fun! If you haven't heard of Zulily, its a really amazing website that offers huge discounts on designer and boutique clothing and goods for children and adults. You can find deals on popular brands like Toms if you check often, because everyday they add thousands of items. I love their clothes and was so super excited to get my girls in for a photoshoot there. You can see my daughters on the site this week :)

Fun stamping and using the Take Ten Kit cards. LOVE THIS KIT!

2014 Project Life {WEEK 13} + Foodies + Take Ten Kit

Foodie, anyone? We LOVE FOOD!!! We love to try food and explore, so one of my husband and my favorite things to do on a kid-free day is to choose an area in Seattle and go on a tasting tour of our own. We go to 3 places (more or less) and share ONE thing (maybe two if it's small/cheap) from each place. This weekend we explored (not for the first time) the U-District and Wallingford. We had burgers, tacos, and gelato. This week I also happened to wake up to breakfast in bed, and enjoyed some wine when I had some alone time one night. Therefore, this was the perfect week to make a "Foodie" themed layout. I started out with the supplies from my Take Ten kit, which had foodie inspired cards this month. I added more blues and oranges based on the cute little dinnerware card from my kit. I REALLY love my Take Ten kit. I subscribe to Gossamer Blue and Studio Calico which are both $20 per month. Take Ten Kits are only $10 per month and offer a lot for the price. Easily enough to do a few layouts! I love that I can accent my stash and other kits with these exclusive cards and the coordinating items that come in the kit. I used a lot of the kit in Week 14 also.

{WEEK 13}

This card from the Take Ten Kit inspired my layout. I layered some washi and a cute embellishment to make this card.

I created a sequence from morning to evening, of our food tasting adventure. I used two pockets and joined the adventure with a thin strip of washi and then stamped all over both photos with my SC "NomNom" stamp.

The April 2014 Take Ten Kit. I highly recommended this kit. The customer service is amazing and the kit is an excellent value.

This layout was so fun to create!

Project Life {WEEK 11}

For week 11 I did a one page spread, and added a smaller page to showcase my best friends birthday. I like using smaller pages for events that stand out on their own, which I do not want mixed in with the weekly happenings on my full spread.

{WEEK 11}

For the title card I layered some blue and green washi and used my March Gossamer Blue kit heard enamels to make it look cute.

I had fun stamping on this photo using "Staz-On" black ink (which actually stays on photos and doesnt smear and wipe off like most inks) and a Freckled Fawn "He" and "She" stamp from their Feb. kit. I added these fun labels from my GB kit as well.

I used one of the quote cards that I created and sell HERE.

I made photo collages with PicMonkey on two 4x6" photos which I placed together in the bottom pockets and connected with some twine and a hole punch.

And lastly, here is what my book looks like with the smaller pocket insert for my friends birthday party:

Project Life {WEEK 12}

I did a 2 page spread for week 12 because we had so much family fun I really wanted to get every part of it into the album. And YES I do know that my title card says week 10 instead of week 12. I have since fixed it in my album (oops!)

{WEEK 12}

I took a 4x6" photo and cropped it just enough to mount it onto a 4x6" card, which I cut in 1/2 and put in 2 of the 3x4" pockets. I like to do this to highlight an important moment, which in this case was sisters sharing happily (for once!).

In both of these photos I am showing you how I used washi tape to draw the eye along the spread. I created banners and labeled the photos right over the washi.
